Now that Declan has turned 4 he is convinced that he knows more than me in every area of life. This idea is pretty funny coming from him. Kril and I crack up and the stuff he tells us. Tonight at dinner, he is chowing down on his salad. For those of you that don't know, Declan LOVES tomatoes and lettuce and anything else he finds in his salad. While he's eating he tells me that he wants to grow lettuce in the backyard. The conversation goes something like this:
Declan: We should grow lettuce back there where we play basketball.
Laura/Mom: What?
Declan: Yeah, we need to put little leaves in the ground. Then God will make them grow and grow and grow, then they will be big leaves but really it will be lettuce.
Laura: Declan, you know we can't grow lettuce in the backyard. All the bunnies that live outside will come into the backyard and eat the lettuce.
Declan: Well.....maybe we should go and get some hay and make a scarecrow to scare away all the bunnies. Yeah, that's a really REALLY good idea. We should do that.
I'm sure in about a week he's going to ask me if we can go to the store and buy hay to make a scarecrow, and completely forget about growing lettuce. What a funny guy.
